Fama M’Boup is a vocalist, composer and performer from Berlin.
Descending from a Senegalese family of musicians and storytellers, she curiously searches for ways to tell the stories of people’s inner landscapes in different projects.
With her duo Olicía, she creates looped layers of sounds, as she does in her solo loop project. Together with guitarist Christian Stoltz, she plays own compositions and arrangements of known classics under the name cocotá. Her newest band in June sneaks under your skin with four voices, synths and drums and lets you observe the composer’s inner world.
M’Boup studied in Dresden, Copenhagen and Berlin and shared the stage with Kat Frankie, Sophie Hunger, Avishai Cohen and DOTA. Together with friend and colleague Anna-Lucia Rupp, she owns the Dresden-based label o-cetera.
In 2022, Olicía’s debut album Liquid Lines as well as in June’s concert with “Young Euro Classics” were nominated for the German Jazz Award.
She lives, teaches and creates in Berlin.
